Eurocorgi Weekend 2023 in The
            Netherlands

Wow, it’s time to reflect on another Crazy
Corgi show weekend! Months of preparations
came to an end. The two breed judges, Mrs
Roslyn Gardiner and Mrs Fran Horton, drew
a very nice entry, and as we had to close
our entries way before the closing date, we
decided to look for another UK judge. We
were delighted to invite Mr Kevin Young to be
our third judge. At the traditional Christmas
Corgi Specialty, hosted by the Dutch Welsh
Corgi Association (DWCA), 68 Cardis were
judged by breed judge Mrs Roslyn Gardiner,
and 80 Pembroke bitches were judged by Mr
Kevin Young and 59 Pembroke males should
have been judged by Mrs Fran Horton.

            Cancellation of flights
Thursday evening, we got a word that two
of the three scheduled flights for Friday
morning were cancelled, which means that
only Mr Kevin Young would be arriving Friday
morning. Mrs. Roslyn Gardiner was able to
reschedule her flight on the same day but got
delayed again, anyhow we were relieved to
finally escort her and her travel companion,
Mrs Kerry Frosdick (UK), to the hotel late at
night. Fran Horton could get another flight on
Saturday morning just in time for the show.
Later that night, we got news that her flight
was cancelled again, meaning she could not
make it to the showground in time. It was
an awful situation for her as she had been
preparing for these shows and spent two
days in a hotel near the airport.

            Troubleshooting The venue

Then, it was time for more troubleshooting... Friday the first, the Eurocorgi crew worked hard
finding a new judge a few hours before the to get everything in place. In the afternoon, the
show was another thing. Luckily, we had first exhibitors set up their crates. Many decorated
some judges around who could step in, other their crates and wore Christmassy outfits. We had
judges we phoned didn’t answer (which was an ambianceur who took care of Christmas music,
not very surprising at 05.00 in the morning) and when all sponsored presents came in, the
or weren’t available. We were delighted with whole concept contributed to a great Christmas
breeder judge Wendy Koot (NL) stepping in atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was the coldest
and judging Pembroke males and Cardis at weekend we had so far this winter, which slightly
Eurocorgi. affected the warm feelings we wanted everyone
                                                             to experience.
