Eye liner

                                                               The color on the eye rims is also affected by the
                                                               amount of eumelanin pigment deposited. Ideally,
                                                               Jack Russell Terriers should have very dark or
                                                               black eye liner. Shades of brown are less desirable
                                                               and lack of pigment on the eye rims is a fault.

             Amber eyes are a reflection of a lesser amount of pigment
             deposited in the layer in front of the iris.

             Dark eyes are preferred in JRTs and are a result of a large
             amount of eumelanin pigment deposited in the layer in
             front of the iris.
