Eye liner
The color on the eye rims is also affected by the
amount of eumelanin pigment deposited. Ideally,
Jack Russell Terriers should have very dark or
black eye liner. Shades of brown are less desirable
and lack of pigment on the eye rims is a fault.
Blue eye in JRTs results from a lack of pigment deposited Black-pigmented eye rims are preferred.
in the layer in front of the iris.
Amber eyes are a reflection of a lesser amount of pigment
deposited in the layer in front of the iris.
Brown-pigmented eye rims
Dark eyes are preferred in JRTs and are a result of a large
amount of eumelanin pigment deposited in the layer in
front of the iris.
