FIT Dog program
There are three levels to the FIT Dog program – Bronze - FITB, Silver - FITS and Gold - FITG.
All levels require you to accumulate a minimum number of points from at least two of the six
categories. The categories are:
A. Taking a 6-week FIT Dog course.
B. Completing organized Community runs of at least one mile.
C. Documented Independent walks, or hikes, of 150 minutes per week for 8 weeks or Group
Walks of at least a mile.
D. Accomplishing an activity unique to you and your Russell i.e., Swimming, Parkour.
E. Have an AKC Fitness related title such as FAST CAT or Rally (there are several others).
F. Have an AKC Parent Club Performance Title. Unfortunately, the parent club for the Russell
Terrier in the USA does not have any breed specific titles, such as sledding or drafting.
At the Bronze level you will need 5 total points,
Silver 10 points and Gold 20 points. Once you
have the points, you can send the Application with
fee along with a checklist and the documentation
of your activity.
You may mail the forms to the AKC, or you can go
to the AKC Title Application Portal
apps.akc.org/title-application- portal/
and along with photographs of the documentation
you may fill out the Application online.
Documentation of your activities may include a
log sheet of your daily activities from category
B or C, a Documentation form signed by a FIT
Dog instructor or Race Host, a copy of your
Russell’s AKC Title, or photographs of a timer
(Start/finish) or a screenshot of GPS map from
your iPhone. If using the Title Application Portal,
the documentation may be uploaded from your
camera.
