was best noted for the mares he sired. Two
stunning mares were World Grand Champion,
Scott Creek Mystic Monique and World
Reserve Grand Champion, Scott Creek
Mystical Dynachrome. These mares became
the basis for my modern herd. I needed to find
a stallion with the same characteristics, only I
wanted a beautiful Arab style head with big
eyes, a teacup muzzle and big movement to
either buy or purchase breedings.

At one of our regional AMHA shows I saw
this tiny black stallion that met all my criteria
and excited my heart. Sierra Dawn Unos
Monarch belonged to my friend, Jane Taylor.
That year as a two-year-old Monarch won Callcard-Kelsie
World Champion Junior Stallion. At the time
Monarch was not for sale, so I contracted 10
breedings over three years for my Orion Mystic
daughters. Jane mentioned that sometime in
the future she might sell him. Monarch’s first
foals crossed on the Mystic daughters for Scott
Creek were stunning. They sold immediately
Sierra Dawn a second title as World Champion Senior
for top prices. Two years later Monarch won
Stallion.

I was afraid that Jane would get a huge offer
and I would no longer have access to this one-
of-a-kind stallion. I immediately contacted her
with an offer to buy him for the price she had
mentioned several years ago. Afterall, I knew
he would meet or exceed his value with his
premium offspring. Later that evening Jane Patented-Print
had several cash offers including one doubling
the price. I was so a touched by her integrity
and have felt it is important for me to follow
her ethical lead. I will always be thankful
for opportunity to purchase Monarch. He
helped us create our wildly successful global
reputation with that beautiful, refined Arabian
look recognized by many of the judges.

Monarch has sired 241 foals and is expecting
one more this spring. I will never know how
many World and International Champions he
has sired. In 2023 Monarch is listed as the
5th leading Money Winning Lifetime Sire for
the World Show AMHA Futurity Program. His Sassy-Casey
offspring have won over $40,000.
