Informative
TANK - this dog with a Minimal Merle pattern was tested as m/M - m/266 through Tilia labs. Of
course it doesn´t fits to his phenotype. His owner sent his semen (germline cells) to Tilia again with
a result of m/[Mc]/M/[Mh] - m/[211]/266/[269]. This mosaic result does explain his Minimal Merle
pattern. Also important to note that with 2 alleles so close together - M - 266 and Mh 269 - only
3 bp apart, it does take an experienced lab/person to read those results. Another lab without this
experience may have missed the longer Mh allele.
FIRE was born as minimal merle - first
testing with result m/Mc doesn´t fits to his
phenotype and he was producing merle
puppies even with solid females. Later came
result from Vemodia (Tilia) using semen
samples – Germline cells and it explained
everything: m/Mc+/[M] ->m/233/[267] by
Tilia.
